Texas teacher's husband dies of heart attack two days later

The husband of a teacher who was shot dead in a primary school in Uvalde, Texas, USA, has died of a heart attack two days later.
The husband of 46-year-old Irma Garcia has died. Family members say the grieving husband, Joe, died of a heart attack and died of a 'broken heart' while suffering from severe depression.

It is said that he could not bear the unexpected death of his wife whom he had loved for more than 30 years.

‘I believe the loss of boundless love between them was unbearable,’ said Debra Austin, Irma’s cousin.

The couple's nephews tweeted that he had died of "grief".

'Please pray for our family. God have mercy on us, ”he said.

The couple has been married for 24 years and have four children. It is not yet known how old the children are.

Survivors of the shooting say Irma and her teacher, 44-year-old Eva Mirels, were protecting their children from gunshot wounds.

'I do not know how to do this life without you, but I will take care of my father.

'I will take care of our dogs, I will say your name forever, and then you will always be remembered,

Mirles' daughter posted on Facebook that her father had died a day later.

Garcia, 23, taught at Rob's Elementary School and was previously named 'Teacher of the Year'. Garcia taught Social Studies and English in third grade.

She is one of the 19 San Antonio educators nominated for the Trinity University Prize for Teaching Excellence in 2019.
