Russia enters Ukraine saying no to the world
The erupting Russian-Ukrainian war has reached a critical juncture today. Russian President Vladimir Putin has secretly ordered the invasion of Ukraine, despite a number of countries, including the United States, condemning Russia's actions. Official statements are a setback, but the Western media has shown skepticism about Russia's role.
According to Maxa, a U.S. space technology company, satellite imagery over the past 24 hours has shown several new military and equipment deployments in western Russia.
More than 100 vehicles are reported to have landed at a small airport in southern Belarus near Ukraine's northern border.
The Russian military has not commented.
Russian authorities announced on Tuesday, February 15, that their troops had partially withdrawn from the Ukrainian border. But satellite imagery casts doubt on those claims - indicating that the Russian military is actually mobilizing troops in the east and north of Ukraine.
After months of assembling troops in the north (Belarus), east (Russia) and south (invading Crimea) of Ukraine, Russian authorities announced a partial retreat of their troops on February 15. At first, this seemed to ease diplomatic pressure.
"After the Russian military exercises, they will return to their military bases and units in Russia's southern and western military districts have begun loading their equipment for their departure," the TASS official news agency quoted the TASS as saying on February 16, citing the Russian Defense Ministry. Says a statement. Media spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov released a video the next day on official Russian television, saying that "tanks in the western military district are preparing to return to their military bases."
Tom Bullock, who works for Jane Intel, an open source security analysis team, analyzed the video and found that the footage did not provide evidence of a military withdrawal.
Based on the scenes, the visible tanks are heading towards a train station or camp about 100 km from the Ukrainian border, which will be operational from November 2021.
The following scenes show the exact opposite of what Russia is saying. The T-72B3M travels from Otreshkovo and its railway station to the Postulate Dvory training ground near the camp.
