Australia's Sydney lockdown limits extended for another month
Authorities in Australia's New South Wales yesterday
extended the lockdown on Sydney for another month. This is due to the growth of
new delta strains of the COVID-19 virus reported in the city.
As many as 5 million residents of the city have been
instructed to stay home until August 28. On Tuesday alone, 177 new Delta
infections were found in the city. Also on Monday it was recorded as 172. A
driver at Sydney Airport has revealed that the virus has recently spread.
Commenting on the Lockdown extension, the South Wales Chief
Minister said she was "deeply concerned" about the situation in the
city. She said the city of Sydney would be closed for another month to control
the situation. Police have also been empowered to create social isolation in
the city, and she has called on the public to report on violations of the
London Town Boundary. She also said that she was infected with the virus.
