Italy wins Euros after 53 years
Italy defeated England in the final of the month-long Euro
2020 football tournament to win the Euro football title, attracting spectators
from around the world.
Hours before the start of the match at Wembley Stadium in
England, a large number of spectators were seen gathering inside and around the
stadium.
England's Luke Shaw scored again in the second minute of the
match, tripping a ball from Trippier's deep into the net from the left corner.
Although the Italians had good control of the ball after the
initial setback, they did not have a chance to score a goal from the English
backline.
As a result, England took a 1-0 lead in the first half and
ended the half amidst cheers from the spectators.
England's Federico Chiesa opened the scoring in the second
half with a goal, but the England goalkeeper was able to hold on to his
dominance.
However, Italy's Leonardo Bonucci scored the first goal for
his team in the 67th minute, silencing the English crowd.
He equalized the ball by hitting the ball into the net from
very close range.
After that goal, the umpires had to give extra time to
select the winners as neither team was able to score any goals until the end of
the match.
Both teams had very close chances to score in the extra 30
minutes, but no goals were scored due to the skill of the goalkeepers.
As a result, they had to resort to penalty kicks and the
Italian team won the first penalty in the penalty shootout.
Domenico Berardi got off to a successful start for Italy
with a free kick, and in response Harry Kane successfully completed his free
kick.
England goalkeeper Andrea Belotti converted a free kick to
give England the lead in the second half.
However, Leonardo Bonucci and Federico Bernardeschi were
able to complete the next two penalties for Italy, while Marcus Rashford and
Jadon Sancho's both penalties for England failed to give Italy the upper hand.
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was able to block
Jorginho's free kick from Italy, giving England another chance to enter the
match.
However, the Italian goalkeeper managed to block a penalty
kick by England's Bukayo Saka, conquering Italy as European champions 53 years
later.
