WhatsApp is officially launching the Disappearing messages feature
You may recall that I was informed last October that a new feature called Disappearing Messages was being added to WhatsApp.
Now, WhatsApp has made an official announcement about this
feature and has announced that it will be releasing this to all WhatsApp users
within this month.
However, this feature, which is basically different from
what was reported at the time of our first article, is designed to be
automatically deleted in 7 days, rather than being able to delete the message
in 5 seconds or an hour.
They also point out that this new feature needs to be
enabled separately for WhatsApp groups or individual contacts.
Thus, when this feature is enabled, everything, including
photos and videos sent to the person or group, will be automatically deleted
after 7 days, but the other party will be able to retrieve or copy screenshots
of them before they expire.
When this feature is enabled, it will be displayed as a new
option in the contact list, and enabling or disabling it will not affect any
other messages sent earlier.
WhatsApp also hopes to release this new feature to all
WhatsApp users around the world within this month.
