Former Argentina footballer Diego Maradona has undergone surgery for a blood clot in his brain.
Earlier, it was reported that Maradona had been admitted to a hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina for fear of contracting Covid-19.
The news was denied by Diego Maradona's personal doctor at the time.
Diego Maradona has been admitted to a hospital in Buenos Aires for medical tests, his personal doctor announced.
His doctor added that he had undergone successful brain surgery for a blood clot at a private clinic. Doctors say Maradona, who has a history of drug abuse and poor health, is at higher risk of complications if infected with the Covid-19 virus.
Diego Maradona has previously suffered two heart attacks and hepatitis.
The former Argentine captain, who led his team to victory at the 1986 World Cup, is currently coaching Argentina's Gymnasiums playing in the Super League.
Maradona was also quarantined last month after he showed symptoms of the Covid-19 virus to Diego Maradona's bodyguard.
